Hello Tigers. Just a reminder that tomorrow I will be out of school. I have been called to serve jury duty in Fort Lauderdale. I have extended time for a few of you with the last two assignments but they must be on my desk by the end of the day tomorrow. If I do not have them first thing Tuesday when I go to school you will have an incomplete. I have been very gracious with time but the grace period is over. We now are entering into the last four weeks of school....home stretch! Lets end it big! Love, Ms. B.
Hello tigers. We need to talk. I spent the night thinking about the events that happened in school yesterday. I have a heavy heart about how some of you enter into my room telling me the news of what transpired between Officer Smith and the student and also the news about how the vending machine man was ‘jump’ and attacked in our hallway. Many of you thought it was 'funny' that over 200 students stood around and watch the man be attacked. Bottom line is…I’m disappointed and I am ashamed of many of you. I know that you all know how much I love you. Yes, teachers love their students. You spend more time with me during the day than you do with some of your family members. I feel that I have built strong relationships with all of you and that we have a mutual respect, love and in a way we are ‘family’. Yesterday when people started laughing, and almost celebrating the fact that Officer Smith was attacked was quite frankly shameful. Seeing someone hurt by another person is never something to be happy about. No one on this earth deserves to be hurt by another human being in any way. It’s bullying. When many of you heard that Officer Smith was taken by ambulance, I heard words like, “she deserved it because she instigates things with us”. That was a terrible thing to feel. Like I said, NO ONE DESERVES TO BE HURT! . NEITHER PHYSCIALY, EMOTIONALLY OR MENTALLY! NO ONE. Even if that person does something wrong to you or others...it's not our right to judge their punishment. It is their karma in life. We don't celebrate someone's pain. We show compassion for all involved. When words and thoughts like those come out of your mouth it only shows a dark heart inside. When your heart is good and pure it shows love and compassion. It aches to see others in pain. Your heart hurts for the other person. I am hoping that deep down inside the behavior that I saw yesterday from my students was only because of peer pressure and your age. Possibly you went home and you felt compassion. If you did not feel compassion for a staff member who was injured by one of our students or visa versa, then you need to spend time in front of the mirror and think about the human being that you are. Are you proud of whom you are? For those who do not read my blog, I will be reading this in class and we are going to have a discussion on what transpired. We will bring the bad behavior to light, face it, deal with it and then put it to rest. Then we move on. Life is a lesson. Ms. B. |
