This week we will be expanding upon our study of the art movement, surrealism by looking at the art and life of MC Escher. We will focus specifically on one of his lithograph drawings entitled, The Hands. View the tutorial and come to class prepared to discuss his work. I think you guys are going to really like his artwork! This week we will study the art and life of artist, Edvard Munch. We will be focusing on his painting, The Scream. Watch the flipped classroom tutorial and be prepared to share in our class discussion of this painting. We will be studying the art and life of Vincent Van Gogh. We will also paint in the style of Van Gogh for the purpose of "feeling" what it is like to paint with line movement, texture and color. Although we will look at many of his paintings, we will be focusing on Starry Night for our class assignment. This tutorial is a brief introduction to an art movement called, Surrealism. Two surrealistic artists that we will be studying is Rene Magritte and Salvador Dali. You will be asked to create a surrealistic drawing using cut outs from magazines. This tutorial will give you an introduction to the lesson, please come to class with an idea of what you will be drawing. This lesson is full of valuable art skills such as; basic drawing skills, positive & negative space in composition, rule of thirds in art, color theory-complimentary colors...just to name a few. I know that all of your paintings will be beautiful. Have fun painting poinsettias. View the Flipped Classroom video and begin thinking about your surrealistic hand design. I will demonstrate in class on exactly how to begin...I want you to come to class with ideas for your drawing!!! Flipped Classroom: Color WheelPlease view this Powerpoint presentation to get inspiration for your final color wheel final project. Please note that you will have many different avenues to chose. Many of you will create the drawing/painting by using your entire color wheel and designing around it, however as you can see by the student examples the colors do not have to be in a 'wheel' format. Check the rubric and understand exactly what I am looking for but most importantly...BE CREATIVE! Flipped Classroom: Color TheoryThis week we will begin a unit in color theory. Color is an essential element of art. I created this tutorial as an interactive Smartboard presentation for educators, however you can view the slides for the basic color knowledge (just ignore my voice-over that was meant for teachers). We will review this information in class. |
Flipped ClassroomThe Flipped Classroom is a pedagogical model in which the typical lecture and homework elements are reversed. Short video lectures are viewed by students prior to class session, while in-class time is devoted to exercises, projects, or discussions.
